About Professor Sarah Imhoff


Dr. Sarah Inhoff is and Assistant Professor in the Religious Studies and Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indian University, Bloomington. Dr. Imhoff earned her Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies with a concentration in Theoretical and Comparative Religion from Stanford University, and her Master's  Degree in the Study of Judaism and Ph.D in the History of Jusaism from the University of Chicago. Ms Imhoff was the recipient ot the Lowenstien-Weiner Fellowship, American Jewish Archives in 2010 as well as the Martin Marty Center Junior Fellowship, University of Chicago in 2009.


Her research and teaching reflect Dr. Imhoff's interest in the ways that texts and representation create possibilities for constructing Jewishness in a historical context. Her research interests include Gender and American Jewish History, Race and Jewishness, Rabbinic Literature, and American Religious History, and she has authored numerous publications and articles about Judaism.
